Guo Gan is one of the leading exponents of the erhu, a traditional two-stringed Chinese instrument played with a bow. He performs a selection of classic pieces from the erhu repertoire as well as his own compositions that include the title track, 'Scented Maiden'. Elegance and virtuosity characterizes Gan's playing. His main desire is to popularize his instrument and to this end he has played with orchestras in Paris, New York, Prague and China. He has composed for film soundtracks and has played and recorded in musical situations very different from his Chinese origins, collaborating with prestigious artists such as Lang Lang, Didier Lockwood and composer Gabriel Yared.
